Psychotherapeutic Counselling

Why psychotherapeutic counselling…

My work with clients is founded on working with you the client to identify what changes you want to make, in particular what behaviours you want to change, and how to do that. I will support you to make these changes to serve a more purposeful life, which feels more satisfying and fulfilling. I explore what you want relief from, how you want your life to improve. I draw on my trainings, experience and knowledge of evidence-based practices to effectively blend interventions to meet your needs, moment to moment, session by session. I help bring to light aspects of the unconscious, supporting your natural journey of personal and developmental growth by including body, mind, and feelings. I offer a focus to the sense of meaning and purpose in your life and your relationships; including your relationship with the deepest part of your nature, your drive and impulse to grow.

I use a range of therapeutic and creative approaches to best suit you and your needs. We explore what is troubling you from multiple perspectives including unearthing patterns rooted in past experiences as necessary, exploring how they may be repeating. Though once essential for survival, patterns can often unconsciously repeat and cause suffering. Bringing awareness to what is unknown and unspoken can in itself be powerfully transformative, and lead to a stronger sense of self, and greater choice.

I help you become more aware of your thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations, how they are interconnected and impacting your quality of life. I work with you to help you learn skills to manage your thoughts and emotions, so that you become better able to make the changes you want.

We may explore your dreams, work with images, archetypes, and role plays, to help you become aware of your strengths, gifts and qualities, as well as what internal defences and outward factors might be limiting and blocking you from expressing your potential and moving forward with your life.
